Relationship with Expedient Gives Spectrum Diagnostic the Ability to Expand Network and Maintain Reliable Connection to Patient Information

Spectrum Diagnostic is Northwest Ohio’s leading provider of outpatient imaging services such as MRI, ultrasound, and X-Ray procedures. Rakesh Sharma, the company’s Chief Administrative Officer has been an IT manager for more than 22 years. He manages Spectrum Diagnostic’s IT services throughout all four of its offices. In 2005, he chose Expedient to provide colocation services as well as Ethernet and T1 connectivity. Each office has a point to point connection to the data center in Cleveland.

"I selected Expedient because of the quality of its services and the cost effectiveness of their solutions," Sharma explained. "Our previous contract was expiring and about the same time I was contacted by Expedient. I took a tour of the data center and was very impressed with the company’s line of products and services."

Sharma said the move to Expedient’s data center was an easy one. His team and Expedient’s got Spectrum Diagnostic’s 28 Windows and IBM servers installed quickly and Sharma said he continues to be impressed.

"Expedient monitors our systems, our switches, routers, and the connectivity of our network. It seems like by the time I hear about connectivity issues or a service disruption, it’s already taken care of. I like this very much because we used to have to call the previous provider and complain when the connection was down and it sometimes took hours just to get someone on the phone and convince them it wasn’t something wrong on our end. Now, we do not worry about such interruptions; Expedient calls us and helps us prepare but so far we have not had a problem that lasted for more than a few minutes. Expedient is very reliable."

"It’s a great company and we’ve had a great experience. The employees at Expedient are available and return phone calls." Sharma said this alone, as the manager of four locations in four different states, is the most advantageous part of his relationship with Expedient. "They are very responsive; I do not question their expertise in developing strategies to help us get the most from our network."

Sharma said Expedient’s expertise recently came in to play when the company made a major change to its infrastructure.

"We just decided to change over to a VoIP system and we asked Expedient to help out with the project. Even though they aren’t providing that specific service, they helped us set it up so that they could provide the right network solution. They went to all of the meetings with us and performed as part of our IT team. They always give us the right direction in any given situation."

It is this reliability and collaboration which has prompted Sharma to expand his IT services. "We are planning on expanding and using Expedient’s facility in Pennsylvania as a backup site. Currently, we are utilizing the colocation facility in Cleveland and are considering adding managed services from that facility. Because Expedient has done such a great job with the network, I feel confident in their ability to do the right thing for us by maintaining the right redundancies and backups. We are moving ahead because of our good relationship with Expedient."

Sharma said the service expansion to Expedient’s facility in Pennsylvania will take place within the next few months.
