Expedient Facilities Operations Manager

Position Overview

Expedient is looking for an experienced multi-data center facilities manager to provide day-to-day technical oversight and operations management of (7) Expedient-operated data center facilities. This key leadership position will act as the interface between the Director of Facilities Engineering, and the local facilities team members. This position will develop, oversee and refine corrective and preventive maintenance procedures and actions to ensure data center infrastructure reliability. Travel will be essential to ensure proper operations of facilities and compliance with policies and procedures.


Position Objective

Individual will be responsible for delivering 99.999% uptime on an annual basis for all critical building systems serving customers. This uptime will be accomplished through sound leadership of local technical personnel and operational oversight of contractors, ultimately responsible for maintaining key infrastructure elements including electrical, mechanical, cooling, physical security and fire protection.

Essential Duties

• Manage data center and facilities staff responsible for maintenance, monitoring, and reporting.
• Improve on existing and if necessary develop new processes and procedures to continuously streamline overall operations and reliability.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment at all data centers.
• Implement customers requests within specified times.
• Work collaboratively with various departments within the organization to meet customer needs.
• Ensure that capital improvement projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Responsible for all aspects of budget management as they relate to the operations of data center facilities.
• Ensure that vendors and contractors are delivering quality services and customer demands are being met. 


Education & Experience Requirements

An undergraduate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is required.

A minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership role or chief engineer position overseeing data center facilities or comparable leadership in a complex building infrastructure environment.

A thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical systems commonly used in a data center environment including safety practices, breakers, feeders, transformers, generators, emergency bypass configurations, testing intervals, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU/RPP units, chillers, air handling units, building management systems, fire protection, security systems and CRAC units.

Excellent leadership abilities and interpersonal skills with employees, customers and external parties.

The ability to develop and drive a team-oriented operational culture.

The ability to operate autonomously and to serve as an escalation point for local facilities team members and customers during normal business hours as well as emergency situations during off-hours.
