Unix System Engineer
This position is for a mid-to-senior level Unix Systems Engineer, working as part of a team of 4 engineers for responsibility of over 100 Solaris and Linux systems. Engineering group has accountability for operating system, and key component applications.
Position will work as part of said team to manage, maintain and expand upon internal and customer solutions. Work in a 25,000 sq ft secure data center location, and work with 2 dozen other engineers, analysts and administrators to grow the operation.
Candidate should have strong organization skills, in addition to good communications and interpersonal skills. Solid troubleshooting abilities are required.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Provide technical oversight and administration for approximately 100 Unix/Linux Servers.

Work as part of a team to design, develop and implement new solutions for both internal and external customers.

Field, review, and resolve day-to-day system problems; Provide day-to-day maintenance of systems.

Make system change recommendations to management based on customer requests and analysis.

Perform and implement system changes or coordinate changes with vendor or other designated resources.

Provide automation by means of shell or perl scripting.
-
Be on-call one week per month.
QUALIFICATIONS

3-6 years Unix systems administration (Solaris & Linux preferred).

High Degree of Proficiency in Working with Standard UNIX Binaries (sed, awk, ssh)

Experience with Standard Internet Protocols (SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS, NTP, etc)

Experience with Automation by Means of Scripting with Shell/Perl

Experience working in a 24x7 Environment

Experience working in a IP/Networked Environment

Ability to Clearly Document Implemented Solutions.

Security Focused Mind set for Builds and Administration

B.S. in a technical discipline preferred

Experience with Oracle and/or MySQL preferred.

Experience with SAN environments preferred.
